NEBOSH have created ‘Do Something Great: Your Health and Safety Career’, a free resource for those thinking about moving into a career within the health and safety industry.

The 32-page guide provides guidance and advice from 24 of the world’s top health and safety thought leaders. Their advice spans from: how to tell if a health and safety career is for you, what qualifications to take and how to manage training and your current day job, through to what to look for in a good employer and how to get your first break. The experts also share tips for CV’s, handling interviews and the role of mentors and networking in career progression.

The guidance also discusses different learning styles and how to pick the best route for your learning journey. Claire Guse urges people to think about their learning style, ‘Distance or e-learning is cost effective and you can work around your personal and work life, but it doesn’t suit everyone. Sometimes classroom training is needed, or you could consider a blended approach.’

The guide interviews health and safety professionals both throughout the UK and internationally, collating some great advice and tips on how to venture into the industry and build upon existing skills.
