Course Overview
Our CITB SMSTS Course delivers a minimum of 40 hours of contact time and is designed to instruct up to a maximum of 20 delegates, providing training on all relevant legislation and enable the effective management of health and safety within the building, construction and civil engineering industries within the context of the delegate's management role. It enables delegates to fully understand their roles, responsibilities and accountability for health, safety and welfare and teach them to recognise when a site is efficient, economical and productive.
It highlights the need for risk assessment in the workplace, the implementation of the necessary control measures, and adequate communication to sustain a health and safety culture among the workforce. The SMSTS course is endorsed by Build UK as the standard training for all construction managers.
Kentec Training can run this course over 5 consecutive days or on a day release schedule. The courses run frequently at our Tonbridge, Kent Training Centre, or we can accommodate in-house courses at your chosen venue. Contact us on 0333 666 0555 for more information and preferential rates.
Assessment will be by an exam paper and the completion of a case study exercise. The examination demonstrates to external bodies that the certificate is only awarded to successful delegates following both an assessment and examination. Delegates are expected to be interactive during the course and there is also a mandatory toolbox talk to be completed.
At the end of the theory session on day five, delegates will take a short 20 question multiple choice and 5 short written question test. There are 5 safety critical questions that must be answered correctly. For the last 10 minutes of the examination, delegates may use their books for reference.
Please note that the course price includes a same day resit, in the event that delegates do not correctly answer a safety critical question.
This course consists of a training room lecture, DVD presentation and written assessment.
