Course Overview

Our NPORS Vehicle Marshal Experienced Worker Test (EWT) Course delivers a half-day practical assessment, with no additional theory or practical instruction, and is designed to accomodate up to a maximum of 6 tests. Successful delegates will gain a renewed qualification that will meet the legal requirements laid out by UK regulatory bodies to show they are competent in the safe site preparation, guidance, loading, unloading, and overall marshalling procedures for vehicles.

In order to attend this course, you must hold a valid UK Passport or Driving Licence. This will need to be presented to the instructor on the day.

This course consists of a practical assessment only.

This course is for operational site use which is aimed at those who already have a valid, in-date certification and wish to renew their qualification for an additional 3-5 years, depending on the chosen certification route.

Since the operation of this machinery can be physically demanding, delegates must be fit and able to carry out the tasks required in the course program. A good understanding of spoken and written English is required.

Successful delegates will receive an NPORS Vehicle Marshal Operators Card, which is valid for 3-5 years, depending on the chosen certification route.

By the end of the course, the delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and responsibilities as an vehicle marshal
  • Relevant current legislation and guidance
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer's handbook for the particular vehicle
  • Understanding the signs and signals, approved hand signals and different forms of communication
  • How to conduct necessary safety checked at the work area, including stop blocks and tipping areas
  • How to set up an exclusion zone for unloading
  • How to guide machinery in a forward and reverse direction, including confined spaces and blind areas safely and efficiently
  • Environmental considerations such as ground contamination, ground damage, fuel spills and fumes
  • Carry out all end of shift and shut down and parking procedures
  • Identifying and maintaining the correct PPE required as a vehicle marshal
