Due to the changing nature of qualifications, the AoFA Board highlighted the need for the AoFA to become a nationally recognised awarding organisation. In 2010, the AoFA Qualifications was formed to become an Ofqual, QCA approved awarding organisation. This enables the AoFA to offer existing Ofqual qualifications and more importantly produce their our own awards specific to first aid and health and safety subjects.
New Assessment Process for First Aid Training Courses with AoFA Qualifications
Following changes affecting all first aid training providers, candidates attending our First Aid courses (the 3-day initial, 2-day re qualification and the 1-day Emergency First Aid) are now both trained and assessed by one expert instructor/assessor during the course and not by using a separate assessor examination at the end.
This assessment will be through observation along with some written assessments. Whilst these written assessments are straightforward, candidates need a basic command of English. So whilst we are often able to provide support to candidates who for example do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number who require assistance, although we may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us if you need any guidance.
